Lost Leafy Seadragon

Living on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula is a true privilege, and I am constantly reminded of how fortunate I am to be in such a magnificent environment. Here, the creatures not only survive, but thrive in our beautiful clean clear waters.

Finding this dead Leafy Seadragon washed up on Maslin Beach, I felt compelled to pay tribute to this gorgeous creature and honour its life. I decided to preserve it so I could utilise it’s loss as a way to shed light on the state of our oceans. After carefully drying the animal, I chose to showcase it against a backdrop that reflects its natural habitat.

The passing of this Leafy Seadragon has given me an opportunity to celebrate the diverse marine life that inhabit our oceans, while opening up a conversation about preserving our precious environment. It serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty and fragility of our world, and the importance of maintaining its pristine condition.
